ulcers

hey everybody! sorry i haven't been on for a while, but i've been in the hospital with a preforated ulcer. i had emergency surgery about a week ago for it. my question is this: can lorecet (sp?) cause ulcers? the doctor gave me this for pain, and i'm scared to take anything after the surgery. the doctors say the ulcer happened because of use of goody powders. i've been taking them since i was in my early 20's, i'm 36 now. it got to where i couldn't wake up without a goody and a coke "the fix". anyway, i slowed down considerably on them in the past years, but i guess the damage was already done. the funny thing is, i didn't have any symptoms of the ulcer. i'm just worried to take any meds now. the lorecet was my "DOC" and my wonderful husband is going to give them to me when i need them for pain. oh, they cut me open from right under my breast bone all the way down to just above my female parts. it was exploratory surgery, and they had to find out where the hole was leaking tummy juices and air. anyway, i know this is long winded but i'm scared to take the lorecet because i don't know about them causing ulcers. i know the doctor wouldn't give them to me if they did, but he also doesn't know about my addiction to them  and my process of recovery. thanks guys, and i'll keep you posted on my progress.

i think the BEST thing for you to do is to be honest with your doctor.  there are always alternatives to try.

That sounds like some surgery you had. The good thing is that they found the problem and I'm sure you will be feeling much better from here on out.

I agree with Lizzie about being honest with your Dr. That's the one person you should be honest with. But who am I to talk because I myself have been less than honest with my Dr.s so you should do what's you think is best for you. Maybe it comes down to what DR. you have.

At least you have your husband there to take care of you and give you your meds and that in itself should be a great comfort.

Get well soon.
