unusually high rate of urination

I am scheduled for rotator cup surgery in two weeks and during my last surgeron visit I was prescribed TRAMADOL 50 MG for pain. I am now experiencing frequent ( at night about once per hour/during the day about once every 2 hours) urination. The urge to urinate requires immediate attention, and I have not had this problem in the past. I am 67 and my usual frequency at night was about two times per night. I dont seem to have any other symptoms such as pain urinating or blood in urine. I am not experiencing any unusual pain or discomfort as a result. My biggest problem is lack of sleep and worring about this condition

I have had trouble with both tramadol and vicodin, and they BOTH give me the extreme urge about every half hour to go to urinate. BUT, not much...But it kept me up at night until i went. Also agree with the lack of appetite. It's the worst kept secret pill in pain relief. DANGER.

I agree with fourjays.. please get yourself checked.  It could be prostate-related and if discovered early, can be treated with no long-term effects.

And honestly, I will say that while on tramadol, I rarely needed to pee (sorry, maybe tmi?) - but it slowed down my entire system and I could go days with barely eating or experiencing the body's natural functions.  It's such a bad drug.

Hello . . . I do have experience with the tramadol but never had this kind of side affect.  I agree that you should talk to your doctor about this to be safe, before your surgery.  Good luck to you . . this will bump up - hopefully you can get some more feedback from others that may have some experience with this.

Hi Chattermarks Welcome to the forum.. Have you spoken with your Dr. about this ? This could stem from another problem when we look at your age. I would recommend bringing this to the attention of your Dr. before they proceed with the surgery.. I have 1 kidney that is in stage 3 and frequent urination our no urination are red flags for me as kidney disease can be silent.. Have this checked and let us know how you are doing.. I hope others come along with experience with Trams that may have run across this and that is all it is. I wish you well with your surgery.. Do not do things too soon after ok and take care. lesa
