using methadone to come off oxy

ok, i have an idea everyone so let me know what u think. ive been using oxy for a couple months. i want to quit cold turkey, with one exception... my plan is to go in to a methadone clinic tomorrow and take a dose, then do one dose the next day. two days of methadone , not long enough to get addicted physically to methadone and have to go through a horrible detox but have it hold me while oxy gets out of system, hence cutting a couple days out of oxy detox. does anyone understand? the meth will hold me for the first couple days of not using oxy but not doing enough meth to get physical withdrawls from meth, kind of like a forced taper because of the half life of meth, what do yall think>?

Oh my god please do not go to methadone.  I feel like I am going to die right now from just 10mg of the done.  At the clinic they will prob start you out at like 30mgs.  I would like to just blow my head off and end it all right now from 5 days clean from 10mgs of methadone. It may have worked for some but not me.  So it if you want just please be carefull, you are playing with fire.

I have to agree with the people who told you that you are only prolonging the inevitable.The methadone will keep you from feeling the w/ds but as soon as you stop taking the methadone you ARE going to start feeling the w/ds.Taper off the oxys or just jump,don't add methadone into the mix.I am someone who went from vicodin to methadone I compare it to be much like jumping from the frying pan into the fire.I know your plan is to only take it for 2 days but whats going to happen when you wake up on day 3 and you're feeling sick?? hey dude...welcome to the forum....as for your plan I agree with leeisgettingclean
your only prolonging the inevitable as for just going on methadone for a few days
the clinics are full of people that only planed on a few days ....and there still there
yrs later....going from oxy to methadone is like jumping from the frying pan into the fire
ive just broke free from 6 1/2 yrs of methadone..I got 25 days clean today and after
dealing with methadone withdrawals ...personally I would run the other way..
dont tempt the methadone demon...she is evil and cunning she will make you feel beter
for a wile..but it will come at a price your not willing to pay..a much worst addiction
I know someone who tryed it your way ...stayed on methadone for 2 weeks and only
when she went off did she realize that she had to face her hydro withdrawals annway..it was all in vein.....dude it not worth tempting fate...just taper off
the oxy or jump off all together..you will be better in the long run...good luck with your withdrawal ...keep posting there are many here who will be willing to help you thew it...there are many who where and are in your exact spot your not alone...good luck and god bless ...Gnarly

I agree with lee and TrayCee.. although I'm sure you will do as you see fit just be careful using a stronger med to get off you doc of a few months makes no sense to me. if your fear is wd you are going to still feel it and it may be worse and of longer duration. You play with fire you get burned.. lesa

no its not a great idea at all..you are only prolonging the w/ds that will come after you couple days of meth use...we are all addicts, and there is a raeson everyone doesnt simply "skip" w/ds when getting clean and that reason is there is no pain free way to detox, I am sorry to say..:in no way is your plan the "master plan at a detox" go ahead and try it so you can see for yourself so unlike "OIFMc" you will know what to tell people when they come up with the same idea..I have seen many come up with the same plan and not one in the end said it worked..they still w/d and maybe just a little harder..be carefull

youre just dragging out your wd's.  If youve only been taking oxy a few months the wd's shouldnt be that bad

yeah, I mean you can never escape all the symptoms but methadone can definitely mitigate the most severe ones, so it only makes sense.

I think it's a good idea, I did the same thing (minus the clinic).  Methadone, if it's not abused is a godsend in my opinion.
