vicodin addiction support/advice

i have been taking 5 to 10 750 vicodin everyday for 2 years. I am ready to quit, cannoot afford the money or time for rehab detox. i am going to try to ween myself off. I am just looking for a lil encouragement and advice. I have never tried to stop before. I have a lil idea of what to expect, but any advice would be appreciated.

I would recommend a cold turkey detox but if you have someone that will hold your pills and dole them out to you, that's fine too. As long as the ultimate goal is the same, the avenue makes no difference. Expect to feel like you have the flu for a week. Sleep will be difficult also. You can try Melantonin, Benadryl works well too or some Nyquil for the first few days. You can check out an NA meeting and see if it works for you. Post often here letting us know your progress, any questions, or concerns and people will help you. It's a big step so just know that in the long run you will be much happier. Successfully quitting and staying quit is difficult but once you accomplish this, anything else you encounter in life will be easy.

THANK YOU. I really needed to hear from somebody else that can relate to where i am at. I really cannot {financially miss work) for a few days to be able to go thru the wd, i work with the public and my attitude and "happy face" are too important at work for me to look like i am sick while at work. i am going to just cut myself down for a few weeks with the hopes of when i get to the point on ZERO pills that i will at least be able to function at work with it not really being noticed
