Fladdict, yes, I too have a friend that shoots up his pain medication... usually when they are doin' this... not all but usually when they are doin' this they are very heavily into this drug with a very serious problem. (Just my opinion) Wow, fladdict, that's one I haven't heard yet about up the bum. Very interesting.
Melinda, please be very loving, caring and helpful toward your boyfriend while u are helping him. But be very firm in tellin' him that you won't tolerate him doin' this... sometimes (only sometimes) when the spouse or girlfriend puts her foot down, they will try that much harder to stop. But do not argue every 5 minutes about it, or it will make him want it that much more because of the stress of the arguments.
Definitely, hot baths, that's the best thing in the whole world to me. Wish I could've lived in the bathtub for the first 4 days lol. I once spent 2 hours in the bathtub. The only bad part about it was the water kept gettin' cold so I kept lettin' some of the water out and puttin' hot water in every 20 minutes or so. It definitely sooths the legs and body, when you have the restless legs syndromes goin' on which is a withdrawal symptom while goin' through what he's goin' through. He's prolly not gonna eat much for the first 4 days either so try and keep plenty of liquids for him to drink. Oh and diarrhea is definitely a withdrawal that is pesky. Definitely keep some Immodium AD on hand.
Hopefully some of this helps. Good luck and god bless. Ya'll will be in my prayers today. Hugs, Lil. :)
People do it... its stupid.. the tylenol is awful for your veins.. You are right though... he may have graduated to oxy's or something else more "IV" friendly.
I've never heard of anyone injecting vicodin. Maybe someone will tell me I'm wrong, but are you sure he's not doing something else (heroin). Maybe I'm way off here but injecting vicodin?
Hello there. I am glad you found this site. There are things that you can do to make him more comfortable. First off there is something called the Thomas recipe. It helps with some of the withdrawal. It is not a cure by any means but it does help. I also take warm baths for the aches and eat lots of bananas (they have potassium which will help with the leg pain if he is having any). There are a lot of people here and I am sure you will get some ideas. I think most will tell you to that getting sober is the easy part, staying sober is hard. He will need some sort of help after. I suggest you go to Narcotics Anonymous website as well. It will give you lots of information. I wish you both all the best.

I'm sure you're probably right. Addicts do some strange things, but if it were me (in her shoes) I would be concerned that if he was injecting vicodin, that this was definately not the first time he has injecting something. Know what I mean.
Yeah i know what you mean... or he just started and thats why is didn't know shooting vicodin is a terrible idea... there are addicts that will shoot anything though if they are hardcore IV... I worked in a rehab for 3-4 years while I was clean and I've seen it all.. folks even put it in water and enema it in their bum..
You have come to the right place. W/D are different for everyone, but most people I know were through the worst by day 4. Be supportive, love him and give him space if he needs it. Please post often, and stay strong.
