vicodin withdrawl

My husband hasbeen trying to ween down and now he is taking 4 vicodin ES a day.  How long will it take to withdraw, aprrox. I figure 4 arent't that many, so it should be easier. Also is there anything you recommend for easing the symtoms i.e. body aches, diarehha, trouble sleeping, etc.  Anything will help. This seems like a great site.  I have been clean for 80 days today, and I would really like to help him get off of them.  Life is so much better, I can't even explain if you are still struggling.  There are certainly better ways to kill the pain, both literally and figuratively.

thanks for any advice,
mcgruder

good morning,
Day three is crucial in the detox process. It is the hardest one to make it through. My opinion, and only my opinion, is that the weaning process is a dangerous road to pursue. IF he is only taking 4 a day that cold turkey would be a much better option. As long as we keep giving the body its drug of choice, it will continue to crave it. There have been good suggestions made here. Lots of water, mild excercise, and trying to keep as busy as possible. If you guys are God believing people, prayer doesnt hurt. Just a short prayer to ask God (a Higher Power) to help us through the next moment, next 5 minutes, or the next hour, has been monumentally beneficial for me. I wish you the best things in life and sobriety is truly a miracle given to but a few of us.

I am in w/d at present time and just took a clonidine, blood pressure med.  It does help alot.  If you have anyway of getting any of them.  My dr. gave me a script for them.
I have to be in w/d today and tomorrow i go in at 1 for a suboxone pill.  My first.
I hope your husband the best of luck.  Sounds like he can do it, if he has made it this far.  God Bless.  tJack

If he is at 3 days, please beg him to hang in there!  It will start getting better by day 4.  He is at the heighth of the worst of the withdrawals, probably.  How long was he using?  That can make a difference, also.  I went c/t in April after approx. 4 years of sustained usage, the last 9 months taking 70 - 80 (mostly 80) Lortab 10/500/day.  Even at that amount, I was able to function after day 5.

If there is anything I can do to help, please let me know.  Will he get online and read the posts here?  Will he talk to us or let us talk to him?

Good luck and keep us posted, please.

Thanks Rosie,
I think he was taking 10-12 a day.  He has tried to ween before and doen't seem to have the will power.  He has three days off so her thought he could get through the worst in that time.  From what I've been reading it sounds like he shouldn't take any if possible it only makes i worse in the long run.
I had the luxury of going to a detox center, so I don't really know about CT.  Thanks again.

How long was he using and what amount is he down from?  Does he have enough pills to continue weaning until he is at zero?

Please give us a little more information and we can better advise you.  Thanks!
