want to come off the MET

Hi everyone well i am on 55mg/ day (liquid) i want to start weining down! my major reason is i dont want to have a met baby! and would like to become pregnant!! y husband is fixed and it is going to take 10 months to slowley save for the reversal... at which time we will have to make an appointment and stuff so it wont be compleeted for at least a year. i am wanting to come down 1mg every two weeks, i want to feel little to no wd... can any one tell me their stories about the wd? tell me anything? i need to prepare!!!! i need to get off this ****|!!!! any tips stories advice would be great thanks!! ps! i been on met since mar 1 2008

If you have read stories of peoples methadone withdrawls on here im sure you've read what Im about to tell you. No matter if your at 5mgs or 100mgs the w/ds are all the same. There have been some people who have been able to ween down but not many succsess stories. Once you get down to a small amount or none at all the w/ds will be extreme and last for weeks. It does get better tho. And there are things to help but you will have w/ds. Sounds like you have a good support system, your husband, and thats a major plus. Mabye it wont be as bad for you as you have only been on 7 months. There are alot of nice people on here that know alot about it and could help you with  it. Good luck to you, with support and strength you can do it, its just not a easy road, but you will be proud in the end when you complete it!! God Bless.
