Have you tried Zyban/Welbutrin?  I used that and quit over 10 months ago.  I know  that it can have bad side effects for some people, but for me it was a miracle drug.  I had tried all of the other quit smoking methods before, but nothing worked as well as Zyban.  I had no irritability, cravings, or other w/d symptoms.  Maybe you can talk to your doc and see if this would be a good route for you to take.  BTW -- see if your doc can prescribe Welbutrin (same drug, different name.)  Most insurance policies will pay for that to treat depression,  but they won't pay for Zyban to quit smoking -- go figure.  Also, try visiting the following website -- there's a great chat room and lots of support resources there:

Good luck, you can do it!

Something that has worked for me is the online support group called the quitnet. You can find it at www.quitnet.org

I also have quit smoking by using Zyban and can not praise it enough...I slowly cut down my smokes each day for 2 weeks while taking the Zyban and then quit totally. I did not have any w/d and no mood swings. I was impressed with the way it basically blocked the craving for a smoke. The key is to make a date you will quit on and stick to it!! GOOD LUCK
