wellbutrin, tramadol and pregnancy

Hello All, I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience w/ wellbutrin as an atidepressant?  I am currently tapering off tramadol (4 pills per day will be done on Dec 11th, baby due Jan 16th) and my Dr. prescribed me wellbutrin for the deptression I specifically asked her and the pharmicist if they interact w/ tramadol or any other pain meds like lortab and they said no.  Course when I looked it up online it sounds like it may make w/d worse side effects include sweating, nausea anxiety ect....isn't that what is is suppose to prevent?????  It is also a Class C drug and not recommended during pg but my Dr. says it is the safest and has had the most research on so she apparently thinks it will be fine.  I am starting w/ a lose dose and increasing to 2 pills a day.  I haven't started them yet I think I will wait until I get the 1 pill a day. I may speed up my taper to dropping a pill every 3 days instead of 4.  I had a slip recently when I went to visit my sisiter and started feeling w/d so I ordered some more....but I am back on track. H is keeping and doling out pills to me.  I hope a month is sufficent to insure the baby will  be ok.  I am just a little scared to take the wellbutrin cuz I sure don't want to feel worse but then again it is suppose to make me feel better?????  Any thoughts????

i would not take the welbutrin
there are 3 different types of psyc. meds
one speeds you up
one slows you down
one makes you trip
and the welbutrin speeds you up, as a general rule, (i read this in a pscy. mag. that my neighbor/obgyn gave me because he knew i like learning about this sort of thing
so back to the general rule, opiate addicts generally do not do well with welbutrin, now cociane addicts love this ad, and i know several speed addcits who have found help with their depression from using this drug
so not only will this drug probably make you feel aweful and chopped full of anxiety, it is not reccommended during pregnancy
AT ALL!!!
you docotor can confidently give you this pill because he can say well the bennifits out weigh the risk at this time
but later down the line, i do not want you to have to deal with your child having some form of developmental delay
i took paxil when i was pregnant, and i very much regret that decsion, my son also inherited a couple of my learning disibilities, i know in my heart that the ad did affect my child and i was suicidle while i was pregnant but i wish i could have just delt with my issues and not run to another damn pill
ultram is also going to have an affect on your baby so please tell your delivery crew that they need to give her/him meds for wd
think about this,, if you suffer wd from something so will your baby, if an ad slows you down or speeds you up your baby will also be along for that roller coaster ride
we all do the best we can with the information we have, you have seen if yourself that welbutrin is contro indicated in pregnant patients, go with that information, just because someone is a doctor there adivice is never 100% accurate, that why its called medical PRACTCE, wish i knew that when i was younger
i wish you the best of luck,

ask your pharmacist about seizures both meds have seizure warning that would be my biggest concern with the mixing

I am suppose to start a 150mg for 3 days and increase to 2 after that.  I am going to call another pharmacist just to make sure it won't interact w/ the tram. 4 pills(tram) seem to be working ok for me will drop another one soon.  Glad I am not going to be in w/d for thanksgiving.  Thanks for the info.

well...if u r still concerned then also ask your pharmacist as he/she knows more about meds as a rule than a doctor...tramadol has alot to do with seratonin release so ssri's are usually not taken with them if u take a high dose of tramadol each day...WB is mostly a dopamine enhance with minimal effect on seratonin ...it does have a "speedy" effect for some and helps restore motivation and energy for depressed people who get the kind of depression where it is hard to get out of bed..and it works well for them...i liked it but it interfered with my sleep....it took 2 weeks and i hated it as the drug helped my fatigue tremendously...i didnt give it a chance as u r supposed to get used to this side effect and not all have it/I work and didnt want to be up half the night....it is not recommended for people with high anxiety levels either..i started on 150 mg once a day and then had to go down to 75 mg....then i quit and use the tyrosine instead...hope that helped but talk to ur doctor and pharmacist as being pregnant has special considerations ...good luck to u
