ADDICTION: SUBSTANCE ABUSE COMMUNITY
what a mind game this is

what a mind game this is

This is a follow up to a ? I posted last week.I dont see much about it in these posts but I have been taking oxymorphone(OPANA) for FBS.I have been addicted to Meth cocaine and alcohol in the past but have been free from those chains for 10 years. My disease has resurfaced with this Opana though.I have cut my intake from 20 mg a day to 10 mg a day for the past three days.I have been blessed to avoid the terrible sickness of opiate withdrawl (withdrawal) that I went through last year with this **** when I went CT off of it.Still the mental side of it is a bear.I know 20 mg a day doesnt sound like much but Opana is some POTENT stuff.Anywho a couple of you encouraged me to keep you informed so thats whats up.Pray for me!

I know nothing about oxymorphone, but wanted to say congrats on 10 years clean from coke, meth and booze. Coke grabbed me and i still battle cravings but am clean now. The mental part of addiction is so tough with the mind games and excuses we make sometimes. I find getting support helps a lot to get through the tough times. Sorry i didn't answer anything just want to wish you luck. take care

Isnt it insane how we can still miss something that did such a thorough job of ruining our lives.I am a carpenter and drug abuse and especially alcoholism run rampant in the construction trades.I have to be careful about the conversations I get into lest I start remenising.FYI oxymorphone has been dubbed"hospital heroin" Its one rung down the ladder from fentanyl.

OPANA?   Since this is in the Oxymorphone category, is it the same or stronger than MS Contin.  I take 40mg of MSContin (long lasting) every 12 hours but it does nothing for my pain - never has even after a Hysterectomy with a Morohine pump in 2001.

I'd like to ask my Dr. about this, but if it's the same thing......no need to I guess.  Message me if you'd like.

Oxymorphone is supposed to be 8-10 times stronger than morphine. It does great on the pain but like with all opiates you get tolerance.Mr Dr says the only thing stronger is fentanyl but the patches scare me.Lots of bad publicity on those.

Thanks for the vote of confidence and the positive input. The worst part of this Opana **** has been the "empty" feeling I have when Im not taking it.After being clean from the street drugs for so long this really bit me on the butt.I had back surgery 2 years ago and its been an on again off again battle with painkillers ever since.I hate having the stuff control my thoughts.Might be a good time to start hitting some meetings:>)

i have read that opana is not absorbed well orally...people who get a buzz//or use for a buzz snort or shoot it...saying only 10% is absorbed if not chewed or snorted....scary tho anyway as my doctor has recommened it to me saying it is not as abused as other narcs...skeptical...and have been researching it..guess a narc is a narc in the long run
