what is normal process for weaning off methadone

so i started at the clinic at the end of march of this year. I started at 25 mgs and then by the middle of June i was up to 80 mgs. i stayed at that dose for about a month. shortly after starting at the clinic i made it clear to my counselor that i wanted to get off of methadone as soon as physically possible. So Saturday when i went in they said i was on "detox" and that i was down to 78 mgs. i was very excited because if i start going down 2mgs a week then i should be done in about 40 weeks, but then when i went yesterday they said i was down to 76mgs and today down to 74mgs so it seems they are doing 2mgs a day!! I'm happy about this but is it safe or normal? i feel OK so far. any advice or opinions will be greatly appreciated, thank you

I'll tell u my experience.. I was up at 90mgs and went down 5 mgs every week. The nurse told me that I could dropp more every other day but when I got down to the lower miligrams  was when I needed to take it slower. So maybe they will go slower when as u get lower. It never hurts to ask questions! Good luck and congradulations on deciding to taper.
