I completely understand.  I also was addicted to hydrocodone.  And, when I went through the withdrawals I was extremely depressed for a long time.  I am finally on the other side of the depression.  It took quite awhile for me.  Just hang in there - I promise it will get better and so whatever you do do NOT give up!  I have so much more energy now, feel human and have a clear head to boot!  I'm happy for the first time in a long time!  I know it will seem like forever.  You might not suffer with it as long as others, but keep doing exercise, drinking lots of water, taking vitamins, and try to think positive thoughts!  Keep coming here and receive the love and support you need!  YOU CAN DO THIS!!!  :)

ive been a life long sufferer of depression as well. Been on Prozac for umpteen years (though i quit taking them throughout those years when i was at the peak of feeling great and didnt think I neeeded them anymore, ha! I crashed and burned and was worse than ever when the depression came back 10fold) anyhow, yes your depression will be worse during WD's. Even people who are not normally depressed, usually get depressed/hypersensitive emotions when detoxing. For those of us who are already depressed to start with, you may need a slightly higher dosage of your current anti-D until your body and brain is done detoxing and returning to normal. I know i had to go up on my prozac dose when I was WD'ing. Hang in there, it will get better!!!!!!!!!!!! Im well over 200 days clean now off VIcs (and other pain pills) after a several year long addiction. YOu can do this too.

Yes it is normal and there are things you can do for the depression and yes it does go away... Walking is a good way to beat depression.. Can not go for a walk a gym exercise swimming anything that involves movement.. You need to start building your natural endorphins back to their prior levels before you adjusted them with the med.. Exercise will speed up this process.. It may be that you will feel better then before the med if you worked out a hour a day.
Congratulations on day 8.. I know how tough it is to wd and I know your energy level is way low but force yourself to move it will be to your benefit.. I wish you well. lesa
