which is stronger

Hi, Got a question, my doctor took me off of Oxycontin 20 mg. and put me on Morphine 30 mgs. is this suppose to be stronger? because my pain is worse now that it's ever been........it's for back pain.......

i would have stuck with the oxy.Oral morphine has a poor 25% bioavailability(amount of drug that gets in2 yr blood stream) compared with Oxy s 60%.
Ultimately,how people respond to different pain meds is a bit of a cr@p shoot.Listen 2 yr body.If yr not experiencing comparable analgesia with 30mg morph as 20mg oxy then,4 u at least there is no debating which is stronger.
Its generally accepted that,mg 4 mg oxy is stronger.

There is a conversion chart that the doctors use to calculate how much morphine would equal the oxycontin.  The morphine did not help my pain at all, even when the dose was increased.  So I was put back on the oxycontin.  Unfortunately I abused the oxycontin and well, you know how the story goes...  But I've been clean for over four months now and wish I'd never even heard of oxycontin!  Talk to your doctor and he will be able to figure out the right dose for you.  Tell him if the morphine isn't working.

I was on both Kadian and Avinza with the vicodin es for breakthrough pain.  For me the Vicodin worked best.

had to drop the morphine, made me really ill, got acid reflex, so it bothered me big time, now I have nothing but vicodine,,,helps somewhat, but having some withdrawal....can't win with this stuff, can you?........thanks for your responce. I am with you Yoda99, wish I never heard the word oxycontin,,,ugh..
