will amitriptyline (elavil) help with codeine withdawals?

not a random question its just ive read everything here and i dont have access to anything else at all like valium and stuff and its the restlessness an not sleeping thats getting to me big time i dont want to cave in and god help me i wont but i could do with a bit help or should i say relief !!
another thing im freezing all the time is this normal for codiene withdrawals??

It would probably make you sleepy.............Have you had your thyroid checked?  Thats frequently behind cold intolerance....

i havent had my thyroid checked thanks for that i will get it checked lol

im hoping it will make me sleepy but didnt want to do myself anymore damage and with 2 kids at home  dont know if it would be safe to take during the day so ill just have 1 tonight to see how i get through the night if at all !!

Hi,

I can speak about the amitrirptyline (elavil.) I've taken it for years, even through my w/d from fentanyl. My dr. knew I was on it. I wish I knew how much you're taking. I take 300mgs at bed trime. Of course I sleep b/c that would knock a horse out. Whatever you do DON'T TAKE that amount. My dr. increased it over the yrs. It's the only a/d that works for me. Some people take it in small doses three times a day. your dr probably won't want you to go c/t off of everything at once. Are you trying to get off of them, or are you trying to get to a level that will make you feel a little better??

Let me know more. I would like to know how much you're on.
