will i have withdrawls and what will they be like?

i have been taking 1 10mg methadone every day or everyother day for about a month or a litte more given to me by a friend for back pain. im now not taking them and im very scared i am going to have withdrawls and i dont know what to do if i do. can i even have withdrawls with that low of a dose? i had never know what methadone was till i looked it up online she just told me she had some meds that worked very well. can anyone help me pleasE? im going on a family vacation and im so scared ill be having withdrawls the whole time i am gone

methadone was developed by the nazis durring WWII, as a wonderall analgesic(pain killer) its  perhaps the strongest opioid(analgesic) pound per pound. the only good thing about it,is it does not harm the body's organs,they say. but it stays in the system for days,so wd's may come 2-3 days or longer for some.

your friend should have never given it to you. its primarily prescribed for heroin and or heavy duty pill users. the longer you are on it and the more you are on, the longer and worse the wd's will be.

now heres the good news.......you have not been on it long and it is a low dose, but are you an addict before you took it?

get off it while you can. I have been through it. your only a month into so just rough it out and dont look back.

methadone is the worst thing I ever had to shake........but I was on it for a year and a half,plus mixing in all kinds of other drugs.

and yes, you heard right, this is the best place for the truth........which sometimes people dont like to hear.

sorry bout the lack of response..not many here have done methadone wd...do u have a dr to help u taper down?..it is truly similar to any narcotic wd just will last longer...most M users taper down before quitting..it would be hard to jump off at ur dose...did u read the health pages and look at the thomas recipe and the articles on M wds??? there is also a forum for methadone users if u do not get support here...give it some time..there r people familiar with ur drug who can help..i used it for pain but never had wds from it...

a month at the low dose u stated should not be too hard..we r all different tho..u could cut back to 5 mgs for a while then everyother day on it..even down to 2.5 mgs..there is some great info on methadone wd in the health pages...good luck and keep posting

thank you so much im so so scared. i have not been on them but a little over a month and sometimes it would be one everyother day im really hopeing i dont have much withdrawl at all! right now the last one i took was yesterday and im sweating really bad and feel very tired i cant take this medication anymore without talking to a dr and i also dont want to be addicted to this and i dont want to be someone who has to take it for years and years. i have withdrawled from vicodin before and that wasnt so bad just alot of the *****!! i hope this will all be okay and i wont have bad side effects and my body will be ok! i have a 8 month old and 3 year old and they need there mom and taking methadone while it helped with my pain it also made me sleepy and not want to do anything!  im just so terrified

I was taking 2-3 10 mg methodones per day for about 1 year, before that it was 4-5 10 mg hydrocodone per day for 2+ years. I can tell you that my withdrawls were the worst thing I've ever been through for the first 3-4 days. After that, it got a little better everyday. Now, I've been clean for 19 days and feel like the old me. Your withdrawls are going to depend on how long you've been on them and how many you took on a daily basis.  Most likely, you will feel like dirt for a while, but it's worth it!! I never realized what I was missing out on until now. Good luck to you.
