I have...I want this drug out of my body and don't know how to do this....

My wife has been on Paxil for a while and the doctor just took her off of it about two weeks ago, because she's changing over to another anti-depressant. She also had severe dizziness and head-rushes. Tingling in her arms and chest pains. She found that by taking dramamine "sp?" (Motion sickness pills) it really helped out alot. We have found out "my Aunts a nurse" that a person should be weened off of Paxil slowly over about a month or more.

what is the problem - you are a moron for not listening to your doctor about the side affects of this drug i too take this drug, and i get some of those side affects maybe you should get your dose lowered to like 10 mgs i assume that you are taking the reggular dose of 20 mgs but i take 40 mgs and sometimes you have to cope ! so build a bridge and get over it !

Connie,  there is definitly signs of withdrawal from paxil.. I'm on it for 1 year..  I don't take it everyday, sometimes not for a week.  dizzy, nervous, light headed lose balance, and then some..  the longest i've gone witout taking it was two weeks..  It got kinda spooky.  i went back on and for three days i felt worse,  my body had to re adjust.  if you really want to stop, you should most definitly thin out the amount you take gradually, skip a day or two once in a while and try to stay on the same smaller dose for at least a week at a time.  that way your body can adjust better.  seritonin makes you feel good... when you take the pills, you will feel good, but when you stop taking them, it seems like the body works less at producing or maintaining its own natural seritonin level..  so.... when you stop, the body needs time to re adjust and examine itself.  it realizes that there is'nt enough there, so it needs to figure out how to produce the correct level again, or learn how to make what it has naturally, work without the assistance of the drug..  there are a lot of people on this site asking questions about paxil..  for me, i dont really notice if it works all that well, due to the fact that i mix it with things i should'nt.  the only thing i can say is that most of the users of paxil experience the same few side affects i stated above.   good thing about it is that, sexually, i can really endure when it comes to intercourse..  but, sometimes, i cant reach an orgasm.

i check in almost every other day if you want to respond, if not... good luck to you both, and god bless....

A neurologist put me on 10 mg. of Paxil for severe headaches I was having.  Not only has it helped the headaches, it has helped my marriage and in disciplining my children.  Only side affects for me is dreaming vividly and delay in going to sleep.  These anti-depressants are good for some, not for others.  Either try lower dose or try Zoloft or something.  Praying for you, Connie.

Connie, your body does go through withdrawl from Paxil. I was on 20mg for approx 3 years and I decided to quit two weeks ago.  I dropped down to 10mg for two weeks and have been off for 5 days.  Symptoms include brain zaps, severe nauseau and indigestion.  From what I have read on other sites, all these symptoms and more are normal as your body is readjusting.  I think it is helpful to drop down slowly versus going cold turkey.  It is a tough to go through and I hope that you start to feel better soon.  I am going through the same thing, but I believe that if we think positively and don't try to stress too much, within two weeks our bodies should adjust and return to "normal".  Good-luck.  Lisa
