Id also like to know from other peoples experience how many days does it usually take before the horrible withdrawl is over for example the pain etc as i have the impression that after 6 days you are usually pain free from the aches and pain??

Cool , My brother lives next to a lake with airplane or boat access- dog sled if you are alittle crazy. But he also has a steambath sort of place that steam really helps with the cold feelings and muscle ache. Good luck. I have like 16 days or something close not as focused on my days anymore as much as amazed and thankful that withdrawal wasn't the blood sucking monster I thought it would be. The addiction is.  I hope we all can remember how hard it is chasing the pills. Ugggghhhh

thanks very much for your replies.  Yip its got to be done I'm going away tomorrow, its a holiday home that is only accessible by boat and has no shops, and no access to any drugs!  Watch lots of movies and take diazepam for muscle pain.  So here goes, I have my last two tablets this afternoon then go cold turkey!
Thanks again for everyone's advice and support, let yas know how i'm going in about a week (there's no internet access there either)  If anyone reading this is thinking about quitting feel free to post me in a week and maybe I can give advice/support/inspiration to you!
Take care everyone xxx

Heh heh...guess what, the worst of it lasts...four days. Don't hurt yourself when you whack your forehead with your palm. :)

On the fifth day you'd start to feel human again. It CAN vary by a day or two, but usually doesn't. You've got what sounds like a standard usage history, and what I said above is standard withdrawals.

I'd say get the clonidine pills to use for the withdrawals. There's a thing on here called the "Thomas Recipe". If you search on that or clonidine, it should give you a list of the other basics that will help with the withdrawals. This won't make the suffering go away, mind you, but it should make it bearable.

Be careful with the xanax when  using it. It's not that helpful for sleep, and best saved for after the first four five days. Try not to take it more than two or three days at a time, and don't take it for more than two weeks total. There's an addiction that's as bad if not worse than opiates.

I'm a oxycodone, 60mg a day kinda guy and when I withdraw from them I'm usually out of the thick woods in 3-4 days.  After that it gets better.  I'm not free and clear after 3-4 days but things are much more managable.  I'm really not to familiar with codeine so it is hard to say.  Is 250mg of codeine 3x a day a high dosage?

Hey thank you
Been using for approx 4 years, just a little amount at first of course but by this year I was using approx 250mg of codeine three times a day sometimes more sometimes less.  For the first three years my drug taking was sporadic and I'd have around 100 mg at a time.  I only realised I was physically dependent in the last 6 months, I thought I could stop anytime.  When I did realise I was hooked I tried several times to quit and each time I tried the amount I was taking would escalate after I failed, must have panicked or something I don't know but anyway in the last 6 months it jumped up to 250 mg 3 times a day
I know what to expect with the withdrawal symptoms, I've managed to go 4 days cold turkey but have caved after that.  I was just wondering if anyone could tell me approx how much longer than 4 days will it take, do you improve rapidly or slowly day by day? I want to try again really badly aye
thanks so much for reading this and if you could give me some hope then that'll be a real bonus!
Thanks again xxx

You'd have to tell us what you've been using, for how long and how much. Then we could give you a rough guess on what to expect.
