withdrawls from methadone

i gave up methadone nearly 5 weeks ago after getting myself down to 5 mgs. after getting virtually no sleep for the duration i decided to take 2 dalmane 30 a night and i got a few hours sleep with them. Does anybody know, because i'm finishing with them tonight, would they set me back in any way? Or should i cut myself down to 1 a night for a week. Then again i'm wondering is this just the addict in me wanting just to take something! This is my first time giving up the methadone, before that it was heroin for 16 years. heroin withdrawls i know the story with but its the 1st attempt to give this up. any help would be appreiated

I know the withdrawal is brutal from Methadone but please be careful that you are not replacing one drug for another. Dalmane, as you know, is prescribed for insomnia and if I am not mistaken is to be used short-term. It can be addictive and you could potentially suffer withdrawal symptoms.

I didn't understand how long you have been taking them but you may be playing with fire.
