withdrawls

hi everybody! im going on a week being off of suboxene and im having severe withdrawls. i went back to the dr. and he said that im having anxienty and the withdrawls are all in my head. well that is ********. im having hot and cold flashes,my back and neck is killing me. i dont have the want to nor the energy to do anything. it is awful. i have a 2 year old boy and i have no energy or patience to do anything with him. i hate it because when i was on the suboxene i felt fine but now coming of of it i feel like ****. the dr. put me on xanax and said take 3 times a day. i take 1 at nite to make me sleep and ive been taken a half of hydro 1 time a day. i know thats not good and i feel like ive have failed but i am hoping the withdawls will go away soon and i wont even need the half of hydro. any dr. that tells you that you wont have withdrawls from suboxene is lying. i have the same withdrawl (withdrawal) feeling that i used to have when ever i didnt have the money to buy hydros. i just hoping all this wiill pass in time and i can be normal and have my life back. good luck to everybody that is gaoing through the same problems i am because i know how you feel!!!!!

hi and theres a few questions to determine around generaly how long WDs will last, what dose did you stop at? how long have you been on it? because the first time i tried to get off suboxone i was sittin exactly where you are. i was at 8 days and no change and its not in your head WDs can last from a week to a month.  did you taper?

I stoped sub at 2mg a day, if i could of i would have taperd more was laid off couldnt afford any more. If sub is tapered right its not that bad. To taper right, you need to reduce dose then wait one week at that dose after w/d stops, then taper some more wait one week for w/d to pass, then taper some more wait till w/d pass stay on each dose 1 week after w/dd stops you may not have w/d if the taper is small enough. But sub w/d is not in your head well yes it is, its in your head arms back legs it everywhere even in places you didnt know you had. It took me a month to get my energy back when i tried to do anything i got winded very fast, had trouble taking out the trash without getting winded. Good luck if you need to talk holler Aaron

hey there I was on 32mgs of suboxone for just under a year and now ahve been on methadone 120mgs for a year...buprenorphine (suboxone) is very similar to methadone in that if the drug is withdrawn and you have taken it on a daily basis for more than a few months like after 4 mths. then you will experience wd symptoms, especially if you taper down to fast or get off to quickly, it kills me seeing ppl rush to get off or the doctor convinces you that youll be fine and then their right back using again to kill the horrid wd, ive seen it way to many times. After taking suboxone at a dose 8mgs or above can and will cause immense wds and their terrible, absolutely horrid. your doctor was partially right when he told you its all in your head because the severity and intensity of just about everyone of the terrible wd symptoms you feel like the hot/cold flashes, sweating, goosebumps, aches, spasms, anxiety, etc. is determined a great deal in how your mind set is..if you feel like the wds are going to be tremendously horrible, well then 100% guaranteed they will be. its definitely something not exactly medically definable, but it has to do with our inner consciousness, the anticipation for the lurking effects, the constant stress/anxiety about whats next or what that feeling is in your arm, oh my leg, and on and on and on..the absolute worst thing you can do during wds is to keep super busy. As tough as it is to even move or eat, you have to keep your mind at work. have good friends around or have them take you out, go on walks, out to eat, movies, shopping, anything to fill your day so your not lyin in your bed moaning and whining about how bad your stomach hurts and how your freezing one second and then as soon as you get covered up your sweating profusely scorching hot! Even though these physical wd symptoms are real the less you think about them and the less intimidated you are the easier and faster your detox period will be. Ive have countlessly not followed my advice so many times and of course i get the same dumb results, it took a couple of years but I know better now. Especially because you and I are talking about suboxone and methadone. These are not light opioids, these are not no vicodins or percocets woo hoo hah, these are very potent, can be lethal very easily. buprenorphine is 30 times stronger than morphine. methadone is a little stronger even so these addiction treatment meds are to be handled with extreme respect and carefully. they are not supposed to be used recreationally, the buzz is not something to write home about at all! I guess for someone who takes vikes or percocets then yeah theyll be slaughtered by taking a little crumb of sub or 2mgs of methadone but these meds are to be used for opiate addicts who have tried detox multiple times, have a severe addiction to heroin,dilaudid,oxycontin,opana,fentanyl,etc.-only very strong opiods. And even then a detox and wd meds such as clonidine, benzos, immodium ad, anti-nausea medicine, and maybe a couple of somas works for any severity of addiction for getting off. the time when these meds are needed is when after attempting a true detox, getting fully off and the opiates completely out of your system if you eventually started using again and it started right where it left off and gets worse and worse, higher and higher.
It honestly kills me to see people and kids today being put on 24mgs of suboxone or 100mgs of methadone for a hydrocodone or oxycodone habit. I think for severe addictions sub and methadone are life savers for some and can really save and straighten out peoples lifes, give a chance and put them on the right path, but putting somebody on a opioid that is more than double hell triple as strong as their DOC is not the answer. That to me is the worst thing you can do cuz no matter how regulated the treatment meds are they are still damn potent and they are extremely addictive/dependable. After 4mths in the methadone clinic I missed  a saturday which meant that I missed my dose for that day and my one take home dose for sunday(the day their closed). Since it hadnt to long since I had started I figured I would be alright, **** was I way way wrong. going without methadone or if someone has to go cold turkey like I did for 7 days is by far the absolute opiate wds there is possible. No amount of pure heroin, fentanyl, dilaudid, anything can even begin to touch on the severity of methadone wds. both suboxone and methadone wds last over a month, methadone(average half-life 34 hrs.) wds peaking at the beginning of week 3 and then leveling off by week 5 or 6, suboxone since it last right around 55 hours for one dose(average half-life is 37hrs.) peaks at week 4 and can go really intense and strong for well over two mths. It ***** I wish it upon nobody. that is why no one should get on either sub or done unless theyve given everything else a true and fully honest shot, then if it is decided it is needed then the lowered the dose the better, the less time you are on it the better also. both of those play such an important factor with wds. that forms it right there. if you are on a low dose of sub say 2-4mgs and you take it for 6-8mths. if you taper down your wds will be extremely mild almost unnoticeable as far as physical wd effects go, the mental part is another story that takes more time to get better and is hard to fix considering the extensive damage done on your receptors and sites, so anyone on sub at 16-32mgs p/day and has been on it for close to a year then thats where you have to properly and carefully plan out a tapering schedule and a detox plan, jumping to fast will put you into hell and anyone having a problem with their suboxone dose thinking it isnt high enough they still have cravings and problems they want to go up, well frankly the highest dose you can go is 32mgs per day any higher and buprenorphine turns into a opiate antagonist(whats giving to ppl who od to bring them back) so thats obviously pointless if anyone wants to test that out plz let me know how that one goes, it will put you into precipitated wds which is believe it or not even worse than cold turkey full on suboxone wds, they are unbearable. I was pretty much every dose at every range and i found that it was pointless to even be on 32mgs, anything higher than 24mgs you dont get anything more you just teeter closer to going into full wds. I found the best dose with buprenorphine cuz its an unique opioid where the lower the dose the more opiate like high effects you get from it so thats why the docs start you so low. the best dose for something higher is in between 8-16mgs. 24mgs should be the highest nothing more is given after that believe me i tried hundreds of times sadly.

Sorry for the long long rant, basically if you didnt get it from the above rambling, your wd symptoms and severity are going to be based upon what dose you took daily, how severe your opioid addiction was before and to what, and mainly how long you have been on suboxone? regardless of what your doc says if you are going thru severe enough wds then you need to start taking a tiny amount again, you dont have to start all over but you and your body, mentally and physically you were not ready to get off fully, so go back to 1 or 2mgs to get rid of any wds, dont and I mean DONT continue taking hydrocodone to help your wds your relapsing i know u need something to ease the wds but hydros are not the answer, youve taken sub now your body is sued to that and dependent on it so taking even 50 hydrocodones will not make you feel better the suboxone even after a week of no use will still have a block on your receptors for letting other opiates work, sorry...its just not possible t binds super strongly to them and doesnt let go fora long long time. you need to go back on a very small amount of sub take it even slower I tell everyone theres no such thing as going to slow, go at your pace, make sure your ready to not take a single pill or opiate at all any time during the day for anything you cant resort to taking anything once you can do that and youve gone slow enough to let your body detox off the sub then youll be off with no wd effects..best of luck to you, christos
