Thank you to all that has given me advice, I never knew there were people that actually cared beside my innercircle. I feel much better today, hopefully I will be back to my old self(whoever that is). Again Thank you

Don't do that to yourself about, "will I relapse?"  Just focus on your detox and getting better for now.  There are many that do relapse but there are many, many that quit and haven't gone back for months and years.

Again, my whole reason for relapse wasn't for a buzz(lortabs never really gave me that much of a buzz anyway) it was because I couldn't drag myself out of bed, it was all about energy, I became very depressed and so that is why I called my dr. (I have back problems but I actually feel better off the meds. but that is a whole other story)

Finally, I found this website and found the answers I was looking for.  I now know that in time my body will start to function normally again without opiates...see that was the big thing for me because I felt like I was being worthless and not doing my part with my family but now my family is very supportive, they know I am working hard on getting healthy again so now I don't feel like I need to take a pill for energy.  I hope I am making sense.  We all have our own reasons.

Anyhow, gonna go crash and you can do this.  I have big faith in you!  Lyn

We can't answer that. The odds are that you will relapse. Does that mean you will never be clean? No, the decision is always yours.

I would say so, of course you will probably have the lingering fatigue and lack of energy, some have a little anxiety but the really hard part should be over by then definately and thank God you only took 6 a day, maybe that will make it somewhat easier.

Btw, I wanted to tell you, my DOC was lortabs too and a while back before I found this forum, I went CT and did not have a clue what I was doing but I did get through it...but guess what, I couldn't get my energy back and caved, called my dr. and got a prescription like an idiot and had to go through the whole process all over again.  The reason I am mentioning this is that, many relapse because they think it will never get better, they will never feel like there old self again but that is a big fat lie, you will feel good again, it just takes time and why all the people here keep pointing you to those health pages is because we want you to not only get past your detox but then get yourself healthy again...that is so key.  I know you don't feel like dealing with all that now, but when you get past the hard part, go and read what you can do to help in your recovery.  You will be glad you did.

Yes ask questions, I think I at least asked 50,000 in the course of a month..lol.  I am such a baby, needed that reassurance. ~smile~

PS>  One thing you can do naturally as you said is drink lots and lots of water because that will flush the toxins out and who know's, maybe quicker.

You can do this. We all understand and do not take offense or think you doubt us. Post all you want. Ask questions. We all did this.

Hi Jason, sorry I couldn't respond to your note earlier, my son came and took my pc for awhile.  I think the consensus of feeling the worst is 5 to 7 days but really by day 4 when I went CT I was starting to get past the worst.  I think day 3 was the worst for me.

I don't really think there is anything that can speed up the process, the pills just have to get out of your system and it seems like someone once told me it took 5 days to do that but I might be wrong so somebody correct me if that is not the case.

I am guessing it has been about 35 hours now for you so just getting there is huge!  So many can't even get started so you are doing good.

I know in your note you told me sleep was ok but the energy wasn't and that is so typical for us all.  I wish you could have at least 2 days to just chill, if you start feeling really bad at work you could alway's say you are getting the flu and maybe at least get 1 day off.

Just hang in there because you will be able to deal with this alot better in just a few days.  Try not to stress, I will pray for you tonight.  Take care!

Jason, you seem to be panicking. Read the answers again. We are giving you tips that WILL help you through this. Will it be rough? yes, but we have done this so you can do this too. Read the Thomas recipe. Read the Amino acid protocol. Read what worried and faith wrote to you. It really will help.

Hello Jason,

At 6 a day, you should be able to work it out.

I can tell you what I did successfully the first time I quit.  Unfortunately I fell off of the wagon, and now am paying the price hard.  I gets harder each time you try to stop.

But here is the basics of my first try to quit.  First, I want to point out, my withdrawal symptoms were not too bad, and I could work under this protocol.

That said, many here might argue about whether tapering is the best way.  For me the first time it worked just fine, BUT you have to keep with your plan, and NEVER  NEVER go back to trying to get high from them.

At six a day, if you could taper I would but I see you already went Cold Turkey.  At this point some would argue to stay on that course.  I was able to take a few days and work from home when I felt up to it.  If you have to punch a time clock, then you may have it a bit harder.

I don't want to minimize it, but 6 a day is not too many in comparasin to others such as me.

If you stick to the Cold Turkey, then follow the great advice of those who have posted.

I think you should .

If you were still taking  them, I would have suggested a taper, because at the rate you were taking you could taper in less than a month, and probably not feel too horrible.

I will leave it there..  I tend to ramble as My fingers "talk" faster than me....

Good luck and I hope you can  stay the course.  As I said,  IT  GETS  HARDER with each attempt to quit, so get off, stay off!!!!!

Good luck.

I dont think anything can take all of the wd symptoms away...but u can make it as comfortable as possible....i dont know ur dose, but clonidine helps many...especially if u were on a high dose...i did not take it so i cant comment on it...get the vitamins and aminos suggested...liquid imodium helps alot...something for anxiety and something for sleep if u need it...u will feel like u have the flu for a bit....again, the amount u took has alot to do with with how bad u will feel and for how long...i took 80 mg a day and felt flu-like for 4 days...the energy thing and depression lasted a bit longer for me...but then i really cracked down on the supps and things got better...hang in there

Hi Jason, when goingtomakeit suggested reading the health pages it is because there is where it will tell you what to go buy to help some with the withdrawals.  Just look to the right of your screen and scroll down until you see the heading, "most viewed health pages" and then look down and find where it say's amino acid protocol.  Read that.

Some things people do are drink protein shakes, you can get muscle milk at GNC and it has 25 grams of protein.  You can take Ltyrosine (also bought at GNC) for energy, I take 4 per day.  Another thing is when you come off of opiates, your seratonin levels drop and so to help with that many take 5htp or samE.  Only downside on the amino's is IF you are taking an antidepressant they don't recommend taking some things.  I am taking a multivitamin plus a Bsupermax vitamin.  Then there is immodium if you need it and you know what that is for.  Drink lots of water.

I just detoxed so I am by no means the most educated to give you advice, just saying what most advised me to do.  Seriously though, it's all there in the health pages.

One last thing, melatonin has been a lifesaver for me for sleep.  Take care!

It can last for several days. Good luck. If you can get some clonidine, that helps some. ask your Dr

I worked through C/T because taking time off was not an option for me either.  You can do it.
I sit in a cube and all I could do was stare at the screen--lucky for me not too many interruptions.

If you don't have a terribly physically demanding job, it might not be too terrible.  Just know, it does get better (physically) each day.

Best of luck!

My best advice is put a plan in place.

Make sure your house is stocked w/what's recommended in the health pages as far as vitamins, food, meds, etc.

Have lots of immodium TP in stock!

Pay your internet bill so you can talk to us.

Start telling people you feel like you're getting a bad sinus infection or the flu & take a little time off of work if possible.

If there are children.......maybe ask for babysitting help.

Best Wishes.
