xanax addiction

I am addicted to xanax (up to 4 mg a day) for approx. 8 months now.  I am not under medical supervision (no benefits) and I want to stop.

I am afraid and I don't know who to talk to about this.

Anyone find themselves in my same situation?

Yes, joie is correct.  Do NOT cold turkey off of xanex.  You could suffer a seizure and permanent brain damage.  Xanex needs to be tapered off slowly.  For example, going down 1/4 of a tablet every 2 weeks.  Please get some help with this.

Hi, I've not had problem with xanax, but one of the things that I've read on here is that you shouldn't quit cold turkey.  You need to taper off it.  I'm sure some one with more expierience with xanax will answer you soon!

Take care,
