xanax and alcohol

What effect will taking 4.25 mg mixed with one glass of tequila have?  My daughter is in Florida and her good friend just wrote this to me and wants to know what to do for her.  Should she go to the ER?

It's a bad combination...everyone here will tell you that.  I don't have much experience with mixing the two...but it can be a deadly mixture.  Perhaps a trip to the ER will make her think twice about doing it again.  Not sure about the amount though.

I just saw your post.That is a lot of Xanax to combine with alcohol.I would take her to ER and she should avoid taking alcohol with any pills.

Hi effie, its not a combination to say the least. "Actually its very deadly", if she is coherent, i would have both bottle thrown out, drink some water lots of it and get to bed now,,, good luck,,,

because it is such a strong sedative combined with a deppresant, their is considerable risk .
i would keep a watchful eye because of fear of vomiting and then aspirating.
also alot would depend on this persons tolerance to xanax (alprazolam) if this was the first time taking xanax i would take her to have her in a medical enviroment.

Yeah take her to the E.R. asap! I had a friend who went down this road. He would take 10 .5 mg xanax and down it with a pint or 2 of vodka then wouldn't wake up for 2 days. In the dawn of his problem he would puke in his sleep.

When I read that post did effie mean 4 tabs of 0.25mg.I read it as 4.25 mg Xanax .That would be 18 of 0.25 mg tabs or 9 of the 0.5mg tabs.Mix that with alcohol and it is not good.I suggested the ER.Even 4 tabs of the 0.25 should not be mixed with alcohol
These types of combinations potentiate each other and 1 + 1=3
I hope they went to the ER.

Oops  9 tabs 0.5 mg =4.5 mg not 4.25.My math is off a little.It would have been 17 tabs 0.25mg.Either way that is a lot of xanax at once and to mix it with alcohol could be deadly.
