xanax to klonopin

I have been taking xanax for yrs. now. About 6 mgs. a day, recently I decided to quit c/t and had a seizure. Dr. put me back on it and my psychiatrist decided it would be better for me to switch to klonopin. So this week I started taking 4 mgs. a day of klonopin & no xanax. I have not felt good at all. Very anxious, cant sleep, mood swings, ect. My question is, is it possible to withdrawal from xanax even if it is replaced with another benzo? I feel that the xanax worked better for me but i'm not sure if I should give the klonopin more of a chance or have my doc switch me back. Any suggestions?????

just a comment--I to take xanax- 3  .5 tabs a day. I decided to cut back, so I took 1 1/2 then 1. For the next two days I had terrible seizures. I am okay now---but I am going to see my doc.

Obviously you know now that you can NOT quit benzos cold...I have heard several other people with similar problems while switching from xanax to klonopin. they are both benzo's but doesn't mean they work the same..I would say to go back on the xanax and wean yourself under a dr/s care,,or yourself...and i mean SLOWLY...this is going to take time..you must literally take a little bit away at a time...when I did it, i took 1/4 mg away every few weeks..or as you feel ok...and proceed that way...you may even need to only take away 1/8 mg every few weeks (of your daily dose)...it can be done..i was on 5-7mg/dy and successfully did this..with little discomfort..
