eagle is right went it comes to getting off benzos she is the best ....
That website is benzo.UK.org/Ashton Manual ---------- or just put Ashton Manual in your search engine - - this is the Worlds best and most comprehensive guide to benzo's yet! This Lady Doc spent 40 years devoted to researching benzo's........
I too am wd'ing from xanax. I am ct off the opiates too, and am on day 7 of the opiates and day 3 of the xanax. BUT.. I am taking the equivialant of valium for the .5mg of xanax. One of you out there hooked me up to a life saving website.. benzouk.org. or something like that.. It was eye opening what happens to the body on the xanax and trying to stop the xanax. Really be careful, and with the valium, I am doing good. I started with .25mg to sleep years ago, and was up to 1 mg. I swear the xanax hurt my body more than the opiates did... Really be aware of your heart racing, and try to calm yourself down. Deep breaths, hot baths etc. GOOD LUCK cuz this battle to me is harder than the opiates...
Did you stop it CT???? Xanax needs to be tapered off, it's a benzo!!!
If you want to come off it, please go see the dr that prescribes it to you and establish a tapering plan. As avisg said, mostly dr would switch you to a long acting benzo like Valium or Tranxene and start the taper from there.
The klonopin is a benzo as well, a long acting one, give the time to your body and brain to adjust. You took Xanax for 3 years, don't expect to adjust in 2 weeks, it takes a little more time than that.
Best of luck to you.
Valium is the longest acting and is the best choice for tapering I have taper plans in my journals from a very well and respected dr named dr heather Ashton check them out
cuz the xanax is a sort acting benzo..meaning its a lot stronger than klonopin,..and the doc shoul;d had known that anytime you add a long acting benzo to a withdralw from a short acting one,,the ratios arnt the same...xanax is known to cause sevre withdrawal..but keep taking the 4mgs aday i a few weeks the receptors will adjust to the switch...valium wouldnt be any better..although klonpin and valium are longer acting,,i belive that valium is tel longest long acting like 45 hrs 1/2 life if not longer..
xanax is short acting kolnopin is long acting .Klonopin is very addicting as well and just as hard to come off it .I would dicuss changing over to valuim it is the safest for tapering off of .It is going to take sometime before u feel better benzoz are VERY hard to come off of ... good luck u can do it
