xanax

xanax

Tell me about xanax. Someone mentioned to my hubby that it could help him sleep while going thru the wd from hydros. Now I see some scary references in here today --and I think we might ought to rethink this as an option.

The Zanax is good for sleep and nerves (panic, anxiiety).  And you won't have any trouble with short term use....be advised that this benzo is addicting and can be a problem if used very long. Dont exceed two weeks on it at the most.....problematically, many people that use opites also like zanax ....... keep an eye on it.

Theeagle put it all out there correctly and concise!  Also be careful not to take too much xanax.  I found that they take up to an hour to kick in so it's easy to after like 30-45 minutes of not feeling anything to take another one.  When I take too much I have "black outs".  Where I think I am fully functional but I am not and can't remember anything that I have done!  It's evil stuff.

Heaven knows we dont need anything he might like.---other than sleep. Right now I could use some sleep too. Seems he sleeps 10 minutes and tosses 3 hrs.
Its day 5 so we're hoping for a light at the end of the tunnel soon!--Or at least let us see a little glimmer!! I think he's more exhausted now than anything, and that in itself is awful.
He's taking all the recipe stuff . Still gets sick when he eats (and thats bad--he really luvs his groceries!)

just to tack onto what everyone else has said, if your husband has a penchant alcohol, then I advise him to stay away from xanax. Xanax works on the same receptors of the brain as alcohol. As extrmeski mentioned, too much Xanax will result in nasty black outs.

It's very effective for short term use, but he build up a tolerance quickly then it may present a problem...withdrawals are nasty. Proceed with caution!

Take care!

xanax is a potent benzodiazepine, a class of drugs generally prescribed for anxiety, insomnia, paniuc attacks, muscle cramps and spasms, some have anti-convulsant effects, others are good hyptnotics. benzos are a necessary class of drugs in the medical world but they can be abused and addictive if taken not as prescrribed and for too long, but if only used during wd's they should be fine. use it for the extreme muscle cramps, anxiety, and lots of other ailments that opaite withdrawals shoves on you. I know i couldnt have detoxed without the help of a benzo. lorazepam, similiar to xanax, is primarily used in opiate detox so maybe try that one.if  the xanax is used make sure its taken  as needed,.

If he takes one at night for a few days to help him sleep he will be ok. Xanax is dangerous if you become addicted to it. Dont let him take that much.
