zyban and alcohol

by sameastwood, Jun 09, 2009 03:25PM
i've been taking zyban for three weeks now and have been experiencing lots of side effects like having nightmares e.t.c

the worst experience so far has been with alcohol. i'm not a big drinker but when i have one pint of beer i seem to experiencing feelings like i have had many.

Can this drug effect what alcohol does to your body and could it effect police breatherliser devices as i'm worried to drive on this drug?

hello. absolutely. even a small amount of alcohol. a breathalyzer reading would not be altered, but if you are this concerned, you are probably being impaired by the combination enough to be dangerous behind the wheel. take care,  gm

Don't drive when you're taking this combo or any other combo. Rally, I don't want to sound like a boring old cranky preacher with a humpy back, but if you're gonna drink anything with alcohol in it, hand over the keys. Are you taking this drug to quit smoking or for depression (It's labelled for both -- Zyban for the smoking; Wellbutrin for depression)? In either case, the alcohol is going to mess up your system, so the drug won't work for whatever it's prescribed for.

You can't have it both ways. Boy -- I really do sound like a boring old cranky preacher with a humpy back and liver spots, don't I?
