5 mos preg and taking Subutex..I have many ques!

I am currently 5 1/2 mos pregnant! I just found out im having a beautiful perfectly healthy baby girl!!! I was taking suboxone for 2 yrs and when i decided to discontinue my brith control my doctor decided to switch me from suboxone to subutex because if i were to get preg subutex is said to be safe!! Thank goodness she did this because about 4 mos later i became pregnant!! Im currently taking 8mgs but i am now cutting down to 4 mgs daily! I have asked my doctor but she says she "dont know" but i am worried about after delivery...will my daughter be okay? is there any withdrawls for her? if so what are they and how severe are they?? Also i was wondering about breast feeding which is my desired feeding choice....some doctors have told me no some have said it "should" be okay!! I cannot seem to find someone that "KNOWS" for sure!!! Is there anyone that can help me with this?!? I'm going crazzyy over it!!! I'm soooo nervous already!! I dont know what to do!! I'm desperate for information!! Please HELP MEEE!

I truely feel for you and am in tyears at the moment my 5 month old baby angil is sleeping as i write to you and even through the withdrawel om my drug of choice i can feel comfort in knowing  are babies love us unconditionally and forever it is my only strength right now so stay strong and do what you can to get off everything to truelly enjoy your baby and life, love and prayer be with you!!! My sister resently lost her battle with methadone and left behind two great girls one 16 and one 2 it has been so hard for me but i refuse to go out the same way its what all addiction leads to if you dont stop!!!!!?????? Sorry for the delay-- not sure how I missed this. Please go to my blog and search under pregnancy-- the blog is at suboxonetalkzone.com .  I have a number of posts, and some articles, related to pregnancy and buprenorphine.  The short answer is that we do not know of  problems from buprenorphine during pregnancy;  realize that buprenorphine is NOT a new medication;  it has been used for over 30 years as a pain reliever.  I have had 6 patients so far who stayed on Subutex throughout pregnancy;  all of the moms and babies were fine.  But there are some things to do around the time of delivery, so I encourage you to read up a bit.  If you don't find the answer there, leave a comment on the site.

You can also read about pregnancy and Subutex at suboxforum.com.

As far as methadone is concerned it is very safe to take while preg. You can also breastfeed afterward. Depending on the dose depends on if they will have wd's. My baby did have slight wd's but they treated her with morphine and weaned her down. She felt no discomfort at all. She was asleep throughout most of it. She is 3 now and is too smart for her own good. I would not worry too much about the baby. Sub is somewhat like methadone, so you would think it would be okay as well. I don't know much about sub. You need to do some research on it and hopefully find some answers you are looking for.
