Getting off Klonopin

Getting off Klonopin

I'm on day four of what should be I think  EASY to get off of. I take 1/16th mg of K/day. I break it (1/2mg pill) into tiny bits and take one at 7am, noon and 6pm  (break in half, again, and then again, then split that part into three).  However, i still get muscle twitches and the occasional heart racing for no reason.  I'd only been on K for about 2 months, but prior to that was on a large xanax dose 3-4 mg/day for four years (that was hell to get off of).  I don't normally have seizures but had two getting off of Xanax.  So, obviously i'm trying to avoid that.  I feel kind of ok. I take Trazodone 50mg at night to sleep, i've been taking 75-100mg the past couple days.  I don't know if i just need more time to get the K out of my system or if i should try the taper with valium thing since i have 10 or so of those around (10mg).  Dr suggested addiction center but i'd rather not, so long as i'm 'safe'. Not drinking any alcohol or doing anything else. Ideas?

I would suggest that you not take Valium if you are trying to get off benzos, because it will defeat the purpose. Just stick with what your are doing and it will get better and better every day.
However, did your doctor suggest some talking therapy to find out why you have anxiety to begin with? I think it would be wise to deal with the cause of your problem, to see what at the root of the issue. You also might be able to learn some non-pharmacological techniques of managing anxiety, i.e. relaxation, meditation, bio-feedback, etc.
Sedatives are never a good  way of managing anxiety long term.
Good luck to you and my best wishes.
