How to recover from addiction to exercise?

I am in need of advice on how to deal with an addiction to physical activity, my addiction is severe, and I have taken a few months of cutting physical activity out completely, yet now that i attempt to go back and find a balance, i still end up losing control and injuring myself. How do i find a balance?
Due to my digestive health, i need to have exercise in my lifestyle, yet i still have obsessive behaviours. There are no personal trainers offered in my community, thus i am looking for some advice on how to deal with it myself. I feel the need to be doing extreme activities because of my high energy, and maybe fear based needs as well. Can an expert write up a plan or guidelines for me to follow, and possible psychological issues i should work on that may be causing this?

I don't have a great solution to this problem.  If I were treating you, I would investigate the psychodynamics-- e.g. what it is, inside you, that pushes you to extreme activities and constant exercise.  Is it perfectionism?  Is it a fear of something?  Are you suffering from anorexia or body dysmorphic disorder?

I would suggest finding a good psychologist, or a psychiatrist who does psychotherapy, and taking the time to figure out the specific issues in your case.
