Questions on Naltrexone

Iam a 28 yr old female dealing with alcohol and opioid addiction, have had a problem with alcohol far longer then opioid(Norco), been taking them for 1 1/2 , 4 max in a day halved, orally. Alcohol had been a problem in my life for about 10 yrs, in those then years I went cold turkey and was sober 5 yrs. Just a little briefing on myself, but I read one of ur responses from the 22nd of this month about recommending Vivitrol for a sister who was looking for help for her brother. Now getting sober is not hard for me I been 2 days sober off of opioids (which I was clean for 3 months up until the last 2 weeks ) and alcohol, staying sober is what's harder for me, I don't drink everyday , Iam a binge drinker , so it went from 1 time a month binging which lasts 3-4 days to once every week. Do u think Vivitrol would be a good thing for me to try , Iam willing to do whatever it takes except for taking other pills (Narcotics or Benzos) to replace my other addictions , because I do have bad anxiety and feel very depressed lately but I can tell it's from my alcohol and norco use. Please any advice will help.

And also is Vivitrol ( Naltrexone ) have withdrawals when stopping , addictive a narcotic , or harmful to your brains central Nervous system ? I just don't want to go from one addiction to the next , just want my life back! I have been off it 2 days , how many days should I wait while off opioids and alcohol to get Naltrexone ?

You certainly got a lot comments, even before I noticed your question. So here is an answer from the expert: Vivitrol injection is naltrexone and is FDA approved for both alcoholism and opiate (any opiate) addiction. The shot can be used for alcoholics without them being dry, however, you have to be clean from opiates and the amount of days depends on which opiate one is on, because of the half life of each opiate is different. What we do in our clinic is we induce rapid withdrawals under sedation and block all the opiate receptors, thus we can initiate the naltrexone therapy while the patient is still asleep. We prefer to start with a two-month implant on naltrexone which works in exactly the same way as the Vivitrol injection but allows us two months to set up for the Vivitrol delivery to the patient's home state and their doctor's office - it usually takes time as it is fully covered by most medical insurance - and gives the patient an assured two months of sobriety.  You can get more information by calling our patient coordinator at 888-637-6968.
Good luck to you.

Yes it did work, but I was still hanging with heroin and speed addicts, so just used speed till the implants wore off. I wasn't taking it serious at the time. Haven't used heroin in almost 2 years thanks to subutex which I stopped 60 days ago tomorrow. I will never use anything ever again. I know what you mean about anti depressants. No not all are addictive, and they have thousands on the market now. I take Effexor only 75mg, works great for me, I do not feel depressed at all. It's not like some very potent anti depressants out there that shouldn't be prescribed.

The implants here are only for heroin and certain pill abuse not alcohol, but your injection may be different. George has currently been working on an implant like naltrexone for years now, to Cure all drug abuse and alcoholism but hasn't had success just yet. Hopefully soon.  I will say absolutely the naltrexone works but just not for alcohol, not here in Perth anyway. And not speed either.

Ok I will DEFENITLY do the research, and I'm sure out here they want every penny ! But did it work for u? How long did it keep u sober? And do u think it will help with alcohol ? Because I don't start pils until I drink now but once I start then I still takes pills without drinking as well. And also about the anti-depressants, aren't they also narcotics ! Or at least highly addictive ?
Only because I have to be careful with my addictive personality

Google doctor George O'Neil fresh start I believe the clinic is called in Perth western Australia. Even just his name or fresh start in Perth should come up on google. You can look at sight and see where else they do naltrexone in other states. I haven't heard of the injection so am guessing someone has copied Georges implant idea to an injection so I couldn't recommend it would work the way it's soposed to or one hundred percent guarantee sorry. It cost me $4000 twice but I paid $40 a fortnite through social security and nothing up front. But people always stop paying after a few weeks, George doesn't mind.

I think it wouldn't hurt to go on an anti depressant a few weeks before getting them if you do. The lack of energy and back pain does get a little tiring after a while and so of coarse you do tend to feel a but down. But I did take a lot of nurofen and panadol to help.  They should give you some meds after the implants to help with all pain. I don't remember having fog brain, racing thoughts etc, paws when I was on naltrexone but defiantly talk to doc before they put them in and ask about anti depressant just to be safe if you like.

Oh and also I'm in Southern California, and don't think I will be able to travel to Australia for the implants , so do they have any clinic or any Dr who do it over here? And would you know how much it costs? And do u know what the difference in the injection is from the implant as far as sobriety?

I've had 2 sets of naltrexone implants at different stages in my life put into my lower abdomen. I used heroin an hour before getting the implants, it makes no difference when you last used drugs to getting the implants. George O'Neil from western Australia is the one who invented naltrexone and who implants them into your body. He has a clinic in Perth where he works from and he has done my implants twice. He is a brilliant doctor. But be warned after naltrexone is implanted into your body, bad, bad withdrawal will start in around an hour or two. Like nothing you will ever experience. They heavily medicare you so you pass out but there are flashes where you will feel the most intense withdrawal of your life.

Naltrexone is designed to have all your withdrawal at once and be over in hours or so. My back was in excruciating pain for 3 months after implants, I could hardly walk. The implants take all the drugs out of your system in an hour or two, this is why you get so sick after getting the implants. You won't remember withdrawal very much, which is just as well. This is why you get heavily medicated. This is not for the faint hearted.

The first set I had, after 8 weeks, made there own opening in my stomach and I was able to squeeze out the naltrexone tablets. It was horrid, I showed people because they couldn't believe it happened. Naltrexone is mainly designed to help heroin and pill popers, if you take any of them while having implants, the receptors are automatically blocked and the drug of choice will not work no matter how much you take. You can also overdose and kill yourself if you try. The naltrexone implants is the only thing in the world that works 100 percent to block heroin and pills. I know this for a fact because I have done it twice and I have a close relationship with doctor George O'Neil  who invented the naltrexone implants. The implants work for approximately anywhere from 8 months to 2 years. Then if you wish you get more implants after that time. The naltrexone implants come with the pills in a tube made of plastic that dissolves over time in your stomach. They cut a small mark in your stomach above the pubic bone and insert the implants and glue or stich your stomach closed. The whole procedure takes George 30 seconds to do the whole thing. Best of luck to you.
