Uderstading Suboxone and Naltraxone Side effects

I was on Suboxone from 2005 to March 2011. In 2009 I began to experience poor balance and coordination , loss of sex drive, memory loss, speech problems and significant irratiblity. After many neurological tests and thru process of elimination my doctors came to the conclusion that the suboxone was the root of the problem. After a long period of unsuccessful attempts to taper off the medication I entered the hospital and spent 12 tough days withdrawing. That was March 5, 2011. After two months of slowly regaining my balance ,sex drive, etc. My doc suggested I take a Naltroxone injection. That was May 15th and I immediately began having all of the previous side effects . To this day I continue to experience poor balance and coordination, lack of sex drive, speech problems, etc. The injection is a 30 day time release and I am trying to understand what is going on and when it might end.

I am a bit perplexed, because none of the symptoms that you mentioned have been associated with this particular medication. It's only job is blocking the mu (opioid) receptor in your nervous system and even though other receptors usually participate in the sexual drive, it is somewhat plausible that you are wired a bit differently and it affects you in this particular way that speech and balance I have no guesses, it makes no sense in any way I can see.
Everything in medicine is a bit individual and statistical, just because something never happened before and should not theoretically happen, does not mean what is happening to you is not true.  We are all a bit different and can be affected in unusual ways.  The question is whether you need this medication enough to tolerate these symptoms or not.  Everything in medicine is a risk/benefit ratio.  The Naltrexone shot is keeping you clean; it is possible that the symptoms will get more tolerable with time.  How important is it for you to stay drug free?  Only you can decide that.  Good luck to and my best wishes.
