Ditto, with one comment.... the perception is that it is easier to abuse, but in reality the difference is minimal. Most people who abuse Suboxone or Subutex don't inject it; they use it orally, where the two medications have identical effects and risk profiles. Subutex is, for some reason, significantly more expensive-- so many insurers balk at paying for it.
DJ_sleep, im not a doc but i have been dependent on opiates for about 9 years and ive done it all. The answer is yes there is an alternate medication called SUBUTEX, the drug name is called "Buprenorphine" and it is by it self and does not have the naloxone in it. talk to you doc about it. but a warning to you many docs do not like to perscribe this medication because of the risk for abuse but if you use it as perscribed i works great.
