Yes-- they should be OK together. Metoprolol is not sedating, and Xanax does not have a great effect on lowering blood pressure.... and they are metabolized by different enzymes, so they don't affect the blood levels of each other. The only way they might interact that I can imagine is if a person is dizzy from low blood pressure from too much metoprolol, and also woozy from too much Xanax-- the effects might add together. But that is a bit of a stretch.
