feeling sick

I have been tappering off of vicodine half a pill a week but I still feel sick and tired with that little amount.  I am down to three from 5 a day for fibro.  I take advil 800 mg twice a day also take 1200 mg of nueronton at bedtime and 600mg at 9 am, since tappering the morning amount has made me very tired (never bothered me before) and the pain is bad enough that I just want to stay under warm covers and not move an inch, even the dog leaning against me makes it worse. My husband suggested that I tapper even slower.  I want to get out and move around but the pain is keeping in.  I am not one who can deal with pain. I don't feel buzzed when I take them just releif.   Any thoughts.  Also, my doc does not think it a good idea to go off completely due to the possible depression since I am already bipolar and we want to keep that under control.  My body is dependent on the meds but I use them as told to I just wanted to get off of them but I never thought of what I would do with the pain.  What do you think?

The neurontin really should help with the withdrawal symptoms if U just stop taking the opiates.  You are accepting the pain if you choose to go off the meds. so, if you don't want the stigma or the meds......use only neurontin and it really should help.  I am confused a little with your post.  If U take them properly and don't obsess, or run out early, then you are fine.......If you stop, you will be in pain......thats it.

Only U know whats best for you.

I wish you well.........

I don't like the stigma of being on pain meds for one.  Mostly I wanted to see if I could find another way to deal with the pain.  Not to mention what it is doing to my body that I don't know about.  My blood work is always fine (evey 6 mon.).  I guess I'm just tired of being on all the meds for pain and bipolar.  If I calmly think about it I remember life before meds, not a good place to be.  I just want to feel "normal" whatever that is anymore.  It also bothers me that if I am late taking a dose I start to feel odd and I think that is wd's.  Any ideas on that?

Thanks

My question also.  If you can take them without running out early, and without obsessing over them, why stop?  But if they are running your life, I understand the motivation.  See my comments to the earlier post--  just tapering down on one's own is always an exercise in futility-- everyone just keeps on trying, but it doesn't accomplish anything.  Long-term, happy recovery requires working a program.

why do you want to get off when you need them medically?
