quit taking pain medication at 30-31 weeks

Ok please no one judge me... I have been battling this addiction since i was 17 (now 22) when i found out i was pregnant a friend of mine had experience with coming off hydrocodien with suboxen so to ensure her and the babys safety so she gave me one of hers and i was off pain meds till i had a series of health related issues (brothalyn cyst, kidney stones) i was then prescribed hydrocodien for both ailments. All together from feb to the end of march i was given 3 prescriptions. (i know im rambling on im just scared and need the most professional and educated advice) With that being said here is the part im most ashamed of. I ran out of the scripts by late april and have continued to use off and on (purchasing pills through old connections) till two weeks ago... Iv jdone research on what i am potentially doing.to my daughter and my own self persecution is enough. I went to visit family in CA (from texas) and something in me just clicked i decided to take what pills i purchased and use a taper method. No adverse affects. Iv been.completely off the pills for 2wks and 2dys now. My question is will my baby.sufferr from withdraw symptoms even.though i stopped ten weeks in advance? And will they test her at birth...i can.not have my daughter taken away she is the.reason i want to quit and have tried (despite my relapse) u will be moving and entering an out patient program once she arrives...please someone help i tried to be as descriptive as possible

One more thing my grandmother gave my a .5 xanax for the plane ride home will that cause a problem?

Thanks everyone so much!

You women are something else. Personally, I don't know how you do it. I am a tuff guy that wasn't so tuff when my wife didn't get the epidural in time for our last pregnancy. Yeah, my wife was screaming, but I was wrapped up in the curtain.

Anyway, you guys have to make decisions for others that we (men) do not have to make. It's very easy to throw stones for those that don't understand what opiate addiction is. All I can tell ya is that I have a great deal of respect for all women, and I wish you the best. Keep fighting!

Well i took them off and on throughout my pregnancy. I quit at 36 weeks and i never had any withdrawals. Im about to be 40 weeks now and they are thinking ill go over 40. He has been healthy and they said he will weigh around 9 lbs. Im still scared about him suffering w/d and i am scared he would get taken away because of it. Do they always test the merconium? And im sure it should be out of mine and the babys system after a month?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Every state has different regulation and it may vary from hospital to hospital. It can also depend on your OB/midwife. What they tell you can very much depend on you, if you got regular and early prenatal care, were cooperative and followed all their instructions; if you present yourself as a caring and cared for parent to be, then there may not be any reason for them to test baby's meconium. However if you or those around you send out warning signals with their presentation, dress or behavior, your health provider can very well test your baby's meconium (poop) without your  consent. They can not test you without your express consent and knowledge.
You should be aware that your baby's meconium will show every drug she has used from the 20th week of pregnancy.
I do think that the baby should be just fine provided you do not use anything anymore and continue to take good care of yourself. Please read my blog on Pregnancy and Addiction by clicking on my name and then blogs, it will give you some food for thought. My own feeling is that you will both do very well and you will be a terrific mom. Good luck to you and your babe.
