Adopting When Single

I am currently a 22 year old, male, college student but like the idea of adopting (years down the road when I have a job and am financially stable).  I have no plans to get married, I do not believe this will change.  I am studying to be a high school teacher, so while my funds might not be abundent my work hours should help me.  I am looking for advice from other people who have adopted while single.  What challenges did you face?  Did you go through a state agency or a private one?  Do you think the process was fair to you?

This is just preliminary for me, and like I said I have no plans to actually adopt for a few years at least.  Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

No advise, but kudos to you.  I am a single mom of a 9 y/o.  I don't have any plans of marriage and honestly don't want anyone helping me raise a child (my way or the highway complex).  I also plan to adopt in a year or two.  You are truely wonderful and don't let anyone discourage you.  I hear you have the same options as a married couple.  DYFS also is despirate for parents and definitly don't care about marital status.  And you can adopt for free through them.  Good Luck!
