5 -HTP pros / cons?

I have hashimoto , thyroid levels are good from meds.

Will 5 htp help adrenal health? Help sleep too? I take ashwagonda (adaptogen).

I did not find anything about it helping the adrenals, but I found a side effect that may not help:
"5-HTP can cause hypertension by increasing plasma renin activity, when not co-administered with a peripheral aromatic L-amino acid decarboxylase inhibitor, such as carbidopa or benserazide."
So it will raise your blood pressure - I would not take it if you have adrenal issues.

I looked up Ashwagandha. That appears to have a sedative effect but has other side effects (like bad for pregnant woman) ...
