I take replacement corticosteroids, florinef, salt, dhea, the HC being required or something like death will occur. Once they are out, you MUST take replacements.
It is like any other surgery. I had it done to treat Cushing's disease that could not be resolved via pituitary surgery, so the adrenals had to go as my body was getting too beat up.
I have hashis and they are thinking i could have some adrenal problem as well. I am not very well versed on the adrenal. Once they are removed, how do you treat your body? Do you have to take medications? Why did they remove?
Adrenals are located on top of the kidneys - which are closer to the back. But you may not really feel anything. The source of the cortisol could be pituitary, not adrenal. That is more common. Pituitary Cushing's can enlarge the adrenals.
Hashimoto's is an entirely separate auto-immune disease.
I had both my adrenals removed.
