Can't sleep past 4AM

For the past month, since sinus surgery and multiple courses of steroids and antibiotics, I have been unable to sleep past 4AM.  Not only an I awake, but I am jolted awake and then am completely wired/stressed (think 10 Venti Starbucks) for the rest of the morning.  Slight nausea/ No interest in food in the morning.  Things usually calm down for the day after lunch.  Here are the details:

Diagnoses:
Obstructive Sleep Apnea (2013)
Deviated septum (2013)
Chronic sinusitis (2013)
Airborne allergies (Oak, Grasses, Mold, etc.) (2013)
Sinus Infection (2013)
Gilberts Syndrome (1996)
Vitamin D deficiency (2014)

Procedures/Fixes:
SUAD dental device (5/2015)
Sinus surgery (9/2014)
3 CT scans of sinuses
Weekly allergy shots/year (ongoing)
Neti Pot (2X daily for 1+ year)

Drugs:
6 courses antibiotics (4 in the last 3 months)
Augmentin/Avelox last courses
9 prednisone taper courses
Dymista/Flonase (daily for 1+ year) stopped last month
Ibuprofen
Lipitor
Vitamin D supplement

Symptoms:
Since surgery:
Cannot sleep past 4 AM
-Wired/adrenaline rush, can’t fall back to sleep
-Afternoon crash
Shaky/nervous (made much worse by antibiotics/prednisone?)
-Worse in morning, better as the day goes on
Hard to concentrate
Frequently sweaty at night
Coated tongue
Position sensitive (prone better, upright worse)
Burning sensation in forehead/top of scalp.  Comes and goes.
Lost 15 Lb. in months, loss of appetite,
Coughing spells after getting up in morning
Eating can make symptoms come/go
Blood specks in snot

Doc(s) say "take a sleeping pill and it will get better".  My thoughts:  (a) the long term steroid use/stop screwed up Cortisol levels, (2) the heavy antibiotics screwed up my intestines (c) all of the above.  Has anyone had similar issues?  What's the cause/resolution?  What should I tell my doc?

Hi NoZZZs,

I know a little about general good health issues, so I'm just going to list off what I think you should do, and you can ask your doc why.  But I'M SURE at this time in your life, you should do these things I list, which they will not hurt you.  And I think your basic trouble came from your nose issues and deviated septum and what all they did about it.  You WILL get better:

(a) lack of sleep is partly causing many symptoms, so take sleep pill*
(b) get a foam pillow, lay on side when resting, tilt head up some
(c) drink water & take weekly long, hot soak & do mild stretching
(d) stop taking Lipitor for now -- very dangerous interaction w/your drugs
(e) eat probiotics like yogurt, bananas -- do not eat grapefruit
(f) doc should gradually increase time between allergy shots!
(g) if you work for a living, get temp disability at Social Security
(h) year-round keep a warm humidifier going in your house, few hrs
(I) keep a few low-light plants in your home
*Soma is a good sleeping pill

I might add that many of these tips you should do for only perhaps six months or so, or some a couple years, until you begin to feel better in diff ways.  But I am POSITIVE about the Lipitor, you must go off it and find other ways to eat right to fix cholesterol, until you are completely well.
Regards, Gail

Do you crave salt? How are your sodium and potassium readings?

AI /Addison's is a salt wasting disease so you would have abnormal readings there.
