Saliva test shows my son is low

Saliva test shows my son is low

My son was given a hormone saliva test. He is 12.

The test came back showing that his Cortisol Rhythm went from 9 in the morning, down to less than 1 at noon, stayed below 1 at 5 p.m. and still stayed at below on at midnight. His DHEA level was 2.

His Estradiol level was 10.

Hi Gliadin Ab, SigA was less than 1.

Progesterone: 32.

Testosterone: 6.

Can you help me to understand these results? He seems to be too high in estrogen and too low in testosterone, but I don't know what is normal for a boy his age.

Thanks for your insights.

A normal cortisol rhythm would be to be highest in the morning, be roughly half of the morning reading at around 2pm, and then be close to nothing at midnight (so you can sleep). Your son is not having a normal rhythm. He should see a doctor as he may have Addison's disease.

Usually when one hormone is off, others go off as well - so it may be that his androgens are not functioning well. Usually one tests DHEA sulfate so I am not sure how to interpret DHEA.  And without ranges, the rest are a bit... well, difficult to say.

I would take him to a doctor. He needs cortisol, ACTH, dhea sulfate, renin, aldosterone and other tests...

Does he crave salt?
