Waking up Adrenals

I have low cortisol and have been trying to figure out the reason for a year now.  Well it just dawned on me that I had severe asthma as a kid and I remember being on prednisone for a long time in addition to the inhalers.  In my 20's I wanted to join the Air Force and I am pretty sure I stopped taking the pills cold turkey not realzing the implications.  Over the course of the last 15 years I have fallen apart.  Can the adrenals wake up after being suppressed for so long?  My mom is no longer here to tell me the details so I have ordered my medical records to confirm.  Then I am sure my endo will actually treat me for low cortisol, and if not I will find someone who will.

Were you able to get into the air force?
Amazing that you had all that!

I just got some of my medical records.  I took Theophylline regularly and stopped all of a sudden.  I wanted to join the air force and you could not if you had asthma.  I had tons of different inhalers, used 20 mg of prednisone a couple times, tons of anti biotics, seldane...ect..the list is pretty insane.

I could not find too much info on the the theo dur, but it appears to be a stimulant.

Ugh. I used to have that issue with yeast when I had Cushings.

There are hierarchy diagrams out there. I will see if I can link one in to the health pages sometime - but you can probably find one just by hunting.

No auto immune issues.  Working on thyroid levels but I am guessing that is a secondary issue to something bigger.  I am not sure what the hormone hierarchy is or how everything relates.  I am testing sex hormones, dhea, and pregnelone on saturday.  I am also battling candida and probably have had it a very long time also.  I have taken a lot of anti biotics in my life and did not understand the importance of pro biotics until recently.  I ran out and 4 days later another yeast infection.  I am falling apart!

It could be another health issue? Another auto-immune, or hormone?

Thats the thing. I passed a stim test and have normal sodium and potassium.  They do not recognize adrenal fatigue.  I am guessing my medical records will say something like I would have to take the meds for life.

The adrenals may or may not.

If you have AI, and you fail a stim test, and your sodium and potassium are abnormal, why wouldn't a competent endo treat you?
