Hi there! Thanks for your info. I got in to an endocrinologist this Wednesday! I thought it would take at least a month and it only took a couple days! They said he wanted to see me kinda soon. Worrisome to say the least. He's supposed to be really good so I hope he can "fix" me! Again, thanks for the info. I'll keep you updated if you wish!
Hello.
Adrenal and thyroid issues may or may not be related. Usually you can live with one adrenal as the other adrenal with take over the function and do okay - just like the kidney. The adrenal actually plays a small part in androgens as well (sex hormones) so when you go in for testing, make sure the endocrine doctor tests your adrenal gland thoroughly and completely as well as your thyroid (not just your pituitary aka TSH only). TSH is a pituitary test. An elevated pituitary test *should* tell the doctor that the thyroid is not working as the pituitary is working overtime trying to tell the thyroid to work work work work! They should test free T3 and free T4 and find out what the thyroid is doing itself - and then antibodies - and a good doc calls for an ultrasound to check for nodules.
It does take a while for T4 meds to kick in so one should not test for at least 4 to 6 weeks.
