Ultrasound is great for adrenals... Frankly all the imaging has problems.

I had them all and my imaging showed normal on MRI and ct before surgery, even a normal ct the night before surgery.

Pathology showed they were 2-3x normal size with some nodules. A ct 30 days after surgery said they were normal.

I just in fact got a normal on my thyroid. It was removed.  And a brain MRI missed my pituitary surgery. It came out normal. Lol. Rofl..

I always list my surgeries (13!) so why they don't read, look at the films, old films, baffles the crud out of me.

Ultrasounds typically won't show the adrenal's I thought? Unless they are super massive or something. i thought you needed a CT scan or MRI to show them.

Alas, it just depends on the searching and yes, it can be scary, but the odds are that it is benign.

I have tons of my friends with adrenal crud and nodules and stuff, and we are all benign.

Take care and keep us posted.

Thank you for the information. I'm just really scared because I have been reading up on stuff and all I see is cancer of the adrenal glands. I have pcos and have been suffering for years. Is there anyway that if an adrenal mass not cancerous?

I have only had this done once. It does not require any special preparation or any contrast as it is a normal ultrasound.

Normally a CT is used for imaging the adrenals, but I must say having had normal reports before and after removal (pathology said they were not normal but 2x normal size) that adrenals are not easy to see well.
