can a mibg scan be wrong when it diagnoses a pheochromocytoma? or can something alter the test results food or medications? I just don't want to go through this surgery if its possible that the scan test mibg iodine 131 used could be inaccurate from something i ate or one of my medications.

The marker used is specific to pheo so it is used for that tumor mostly and one other the other being tumors found other MEN II, which means that you would have multiple tumors.

They should have given you specific instructions ahead of time so the test would be accurate and as well there are other tests to take in the blood and urine. But from what I read, there are was not restrictions on food or and your doctor knows your medications so he would know to modify them or stop them for the test.

The tumor can be removed using the Laparoscopic Adrenalectomy. I had both my adrenals removed this way. It is roughly 4 incisions on each side - most are under 1 inch and one is a couple inches - that is the one they remove the adrenal(s) out of. Different surgeons use different number of holes - some may use up to 5 per side.
