Panic and weakness

by Julie359, Jul 14, 2009 03:24PM
I have suffered a severe period of panic, which lasted over 20 hours to which i have been left with weakness and sensitivity in my right hand side of my body.  I haver pain upon walking in my right leg and it feels heavy and cumbersome.

Have i developed some kind of nerve damage?

This is an agoraphobia forum. Such a question would have to be directed to a doctor. We wouldn't be able to comment on your question as we are not in a position to do so. All I could suggest is you go see a doctor and have yourself checked out.

Yes i did n it's nothing sinister im glad to say.  I do suffer from agoraphobia which is sadly bad at present, have been given a host of medications to combat the panic and minimise the anxiety.  I thought that my question went through a doc, hence the nature of it, but glad i've come through to a whole community of people suffering the same phobia, it is comforting to know i'm not the only person out there.  You tend to feel very isolated in those times of darkness and despair and at present i'm in the frame of mind that i just wish my darkness and despair would take a hike.... just want to live a normal life!!!!!!
MrGreen, do you have a good support network of friends around you? or do you do as i do and push those that you love and care for away from you as you are afraid of them seeing you in such a state?

We can isolate ourselves. The more you move indoors the more you are pushing those friends back away from you. I do go out and about. But I wouldn't class it as a social kind of out and about. No pubs, no clubs, etc, etc. I don't tell anybody anything about me at all. Just slowly moved away from the people I grew up with. Shamed to say that you get used to it after two decades. Though my councilor is trying to push me back into such situations were I would have to interact with people and make new friends and the likes. Something we have talked about.
Some great people actually online. Ducky is one fantastic person. As is MJ, who we see little of on this forum these days. If we need to talk we know we have each other to talk with. Offline I do have a few people I can talk to. But talking about the condition is one thing. Expecting them to understand is another. You have to live the life to know the life. Those online friends have lived the life. They know all about it. So you can share more openly with them.
Welcome aboard.
