Tired of being afraid

by doctora, Oct 29, 2009 02:15PM
I have lived all my life with fears. I believe that it may have started at age 7 when I was sexually abused, but now I am in my mid 40's I have had enough.
I have been diagnosed with Bi-Polar 1 and Schizoaffective Disorder, PTSD, and some others, but I never really paid attention to my agoraphobia and just put it down to anxiety, of which mine is high.

It has gotten to the point that I do not leave my apt. unless absolutely necessary. I will go downstairs to the gym once in a while, but I dont like being alone in there even though there are security camera's. Driving has become a major task, especially now since we moved and we are down to one car, and I am unfamiliar with the area. It is embarrasing to phone my husband to get directions when I am only a street or two away from home.

I am a very social person, but dont like being in crowds - figure that one out? Basically, when I do go out, like an actress I change my persona, of which I have several for various occasions.

Currently I am on Seroquel 600mg per day, Cipralax 30mg, Abilify 20mg, and various pain and sleeping aids. I just started taking the Abilify, will this medication help with my phobia's?  I really dont want to take more pills than I already am on, but its time I faced this issue.

Any suggestions?
