I've been anxious/agoraphobic off and on for over 40 years, and I can tell you this for sure.  Get some professional help as soon as you can.  I've had therapy in my house because I couldn't leave, so there ARE therapists out there who will come to your home if you can't leave.
I know how disheartening this can be,  Please know that you're not alone, ...........there are many of us who suffer from this disorder.
The key is to not give in to it, get the help you need, and start babystepping your way out.
Be sure to let us know how you're doing and the steps you've taken to your freedom.
And remember that you're alot strong than you think you are!!!
My best to you,
Ducky

Little bit of health anxiety there too. Afraid that they might find something is wrong with you other than the mental issues? That is normal for anxiety sufferers. We have everything but have nothing. We are own doctors. Slight twitch and we come up with an answer to what it is.

Ducky said it like it is. You need to slowly do things. There is no race. No medals for doing things faster. One step at a time. The home theraphy sounds good. It is not something we have here in Ireland. Good to know it exists and it would be worth checking out.

There is a whole world out there you belong in. Just a case of learning skills about how to cope. Simple skills we have forgotten dues to our anxiety. That is what a good therapist will teach you.

Medication wise it can be about trial and error. Some work good for some people and work bad for other people. Just about finding the right ones for you. But medication is only part of the answer. You are the biggest part of the answer. It is us who have to want to face up to those fears and get better. Be ready to do battle. It is not easy. It will be a nightmare at first. But stick with it. It does get easier and can be beaten.

Can't add much to Ducky and Mr. Green's remarks, but I do know what you are going through, as a woman who has suffered from agoraphobia for 30 some years.

Anxiety is the culprit in most cases of health issues, but of course, a responsible person will check these things out.  Your trips to ER need to be slowed down, and can be, with the help of a good therapist and the right medicine.

I take Klonopin in varying amounts, depending on the day.  For the past month, I have been baby stepping my way out of my apt. after almost 2 yrs of being housebound following anal cancer treatment.

It was incredibly hard at first: then exhilarating; after that body aches and pains almost sent me to ER.  So..body problems surface when anxiety is high, whatever the phase you are in.

We are here to support and encourage you.  Mr. G. is an expert, and it was his support that inspired me to take small steps rather than leaping into situations that would have overwhelmed me.

Good luck.  Keep talking to us. I know you can get your life back...bit by bit..day by day.

Hi Jimgreg i feel that way too, its awful huh, walk out the door and dizzy heart racing hyperventilating etc... The klonopin you said , i have that and it just makes me worse, depressed infact. I cant take any medication it seems without it effecting me. I also have health issues, back issues etc. I'm not sure but i wish people would realise how debilitating this is for us. Some days i feel like i will just go fetal in the corner and not move.I have thought of going to the ER but i always feel put off because of Mental health incase they say go home ur fine.
