Holy horse poopy Batman!

I've been fighting with doctors and shrinks alike for quite some time now.
Recently, I started seeing that new shrink, who decided that it was some sort of anxiety, wouldn't listen to me, etc...you all know how the story goes.
Anyway, I started talking to her assistant through e-mail...they FINALLY sent me this anxiety module ( after waiting for almost a full year for it)...and after reading through it, checking off any and all boxes that may apply to me...we've come to the conclusion that I DON"T have anxiety, but I DO have an alcoholic hubby!
WOW!!! Imagine that!!!
It only took several years and a few shrinks to figure that out!! I am so impressed!

So NOW...they are recommending me to some group that will babysit for free while I attend AL-ANON meetings!!!
I've only been dealing with drunks (for a few weeks short of) 44 years, and I'm FINALLY going to get some help with it!

Maybe this is only a dream...someone pinch me!

I'm so happy to hear that you will finally be getting help. But, sorry to hear it's taken so long. As far as the anxiety, I would not be surprised that you may have some anxiety after dealing with alcoholics all of your life. How could you not? To hear that you don't have an anxiety disorder though is great news.
When will you start going to the Al-Anon meetings? That's really going to help that they have babysitting.

I'm just totally stoked!!  Never thought that this was going to happen...lost faith in humanity for awhile there. lol

Guess it pays off to write a nasty note to your shrink's assistant! lol!

I am so happy for you!  What a frustration indeed to have to go through, but the outcome is a positive one so I am grateful for you there.

I have to laugh about the anxiety aspect, it is amazing how quick someone was ready to hand me pills v/s support for living with an alcoholic/addict.  I am glad you stuck up for yourself and was able to get to this point, this is definitely progress!

Keep us updated on how your first meeting goes.  And don't be afraid to ask questions too.  Everyone here can help :)
