What to do?

How can I stop my husband drinking?
He is an alcoholic who drinks twice a year.It sounds strange I know but this is what happens. When he doesnt drink he is wonderful dad abd husbend.Unfortunately when his time comes nothing is going to stop him.It all starts with few cans of beer in the evening, then few days later is wine. When he refuses to go to work I know what to expect. The drink has such a power that somebody who has never dealed with something like this would never believed how somebody can change so drasticly.Im in tears cos he has been drinking for past week non-stop.He doesnt talk, doesnt wash himself and even stopped going to the bathroom but still manage to go to the shop for another bottle. He drinks and sleep.I feel weak and helpless.Last time when he was drinking it was long 3 months. How I survived that I dont know.It hurts so much.
I dont know what to do.I rang hospital but nothing without his agreement can be done. The police can not do anything becouse he is not agresssive.
We have been married for 14 years. When he had his moments with drinking it was only a week. Now it streaches in time.Every year it last longer and longer.I ask, beg , shout nothing workes. What will happen next? I am scared to think.....

Unfortunately you can't.  Try to find an Al anon meeting to go to, it does help, you might feel a little strange at first but you will get soemthing out of it, even if you just listen.

Concetrate on you, I know that is hard but I am learning it is the most important thing.  I don't have a lot of advice, or hints but you will get some good responses here.

Best of Luck, keep posting and reading.

All you can do it take care of yourself. Trekrgirl is right. Sadly, we cannot make the alcoholic stop drinking, but we can help ourselves. I also agree that Alanon is a great resource; everything is confidential, so no need to worry that others may find out if that is a concern for you. Here's their website to get you started:
