alcoholic dad

I'am 21 years old and my dad has always been "a drinker" but the past 5/6 years things have started to get out of control and it tearing our family apart. He will drink every day, his number 1 prority in life is going to the pub! he goes out one person comes back another as nasty horrible person. He talks and treat my mom like a piece of dirt on his shoe, my mom has no family except me my sister and him, i dont even want to call him my dad anymore and I really fear for her because she deserves so much better. Tried numerous times to speak to him but he doesn't realise he has a alcohol problem, and forgets everything by morning what hes done the night before. We don't know what to do!! Please someone any advise would be great please =(

hi there. you guys would really benefit from alanon. are you in the states or the uk? unfortunately, as long as your dad keeps drinking things will get worse. one thing you guys could do-----you, your sister and mother could each write him a letter, and then sit down together and read them to him. that way you will all be able to express your concerns directly and get his take on things afterward. has he started having problems outside of the home---legal, at work, health, etc? please advise..........gm
